SCHOLARSHIP PACKETS DIRECTIONS
This scholarship packet provides you with information about county, state, and national scholarships that are announced to Thousand Islands High School Guidance Office annually.
1. Read through the attached packet
completely (preferably with your parents) as soon as a possible.
2. When you have determined which
scholarships you qualify for or are interested in, come to the Guidance Office
to see if the applications are available.
These applications trickle in throughout the year, so you need to check
often (preferably twice a week). Announcements
will also be made when our office receives each application.
3. Read all directions on the
applications and be sure to include letters of recommendation and essays where
necessary. Also check the
deadline for each scholarship!
4. Transcripts:
If y our scholarship
material needs to be sent with a transcript included, gather all material
(except the transcript) first, and then submit them to the Guidance
Office. PLEASE SUBMIT IN AN ENVELOPE AND WITH PROPER POSTAGE!
The Guidance Office will then mail your complete scholarship
application with the necessary transcript(s) for you.
5. Please
listen to announcements for additional scholarships that may be new this
year. Also check the bulletin
board outside the cafeteria for new scholarships and for scholarships offered
by particular colleges. Check with the
colleges directly for further information on scholarships they may offer.
SCHOLARSHIP/FINANCIAL
AID WEBSITES
The websites listed below may be helpful for additional scholarship searches. Check them out at home or during your free time in school.
The Guidance Office receives several
scholarships from national Organizations that require us to submit nominations
for appropriate students. These
are often based on community service and/or leadership. Others are based on academic interests/intended college
major, or intended career choice. If
you would like to be considered for these nominations, please submit to Ms.
Gaughan a “resume” including your name (of course), community/volunteer
activities, examples of leadership roles you have held, and your intended
career choice/educational plans. This
way, we won’t miss you when we are considering who our nominees should be
(we do this at TI by committee)!!
