March 5, 2010

Dear Parents,

Our exploration of Japan is concluding.  The various research groups are writing their reports and will begin to share with the rest of the class what they learned about Japan.  The class is also learning about Japan through a piece of literature, The Big Wave, by Pearl S. Buck.

In our study of pollination the students planted fast plant seeds and predicted when they would germinate.  I was very pleased with the cooperative effort I witnessed as student pairs followed the directions for planting.  Now we are waiting for the seeds to germinate and produce seedlings!

We learned how to divide by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9 this week in math.  It’s easy if  students know their multiplication facts!  Keep practicing!  I am planning to administer the division test late next week.

Please keep your calendar clear for the evening of Wednesday, March 31.  This is the date of the Grade 3 & 4 Music Concert directed by Mrs. Beerman  It begins at 7 p.m.  Your child will be participating in this grand event!

Sayonara!

Sincerely,

Mrs. DeMay
