GYM DANDIES- April 2008
Mr. Hauck
Mrs. Robbins

Welcome spring! As better weather approaches and we begin heading outside for physical education, students are reminded to bring sweatshirts and/or jackets since some days will still be cool.
Prior to spring vacation, we will continue to train for our fitness testing that will begin shortly after returning from break. We are currently running an average of 8 – 10 minutes in our phys. ed. classes at least twice per week in preparation for our mile run. Testing will also include flexed-arm hangs, curl-ups and a v-sit for flexibility. In March, we covered units in the areas of juggling, jump roping, step aerobics, scooters and aerobic games. We were happy to be able to sled in February but are disappointed that we were unable to find appropriate days to cross-country ski and snowshoe. We’ll hope for better opportunities next season.
In addition to fitness testing, we will also be covering activities in the areas of physical challenges, project adventure, aerobic games and baseball/softball skills and drills during the month of April.
Over spring vacation we would encourage everyone to stay active whether you are traveling or enjoying the beginning of spring at home. Family walks are a great opportunity to exercise and “catch up” on everyone’s daily activities.
