Sam Guardino dedicated 32 years of service as a teacher, an elementary supervisor, a principal, and ultimately a friend of education. He always modeled the qualities of honesty, dignity and loyalty to his school, church, community and family. When he passed away in 1986, while a principal at the Clayton Elementary building, it was a consensus that he was a true mentor and it would be of the highest honor to both the school and the Guardino family to dedicate the building to Mr. Salvatore "Sam" J. Guardino.
